Supreme Court in search of 61 Anti-Corruption Judges

The Supreme Court is preparing 61 judges to handle corruption cases in Anti-corruption Courts that will be set up in seven provinces throughout the country. Recruitment for these special judges has been announced since Monday, January 4, 2010.

“We have announced the recruitment since Monday,” Hatta Ali, the Court Spokesperson, said after a ceremony in the Constitutional Court, Jakarta, today (5/1).

As the Supreme Court website reported, 115 judges from a number of courts have enrolled in this recruitment. One of the requirements states that the judges must hold magisterial degree and have the experience of handling corruption cases. All the judges are required to gather at the Supreme Court building next January 13.

“We will proceed with interview and psycho test next February,” Hatta Ali said while adding that the Supreme Court will survey these judges.

The Supreme Court has planned to recruit 61 judges. “If it is possible, we will recruit more. But if not, it’s not a problem,” Hatta said.

The Law stipulates that anti-Corruption Court must be established in every province of Indonesia. However, as the beginning, the courts will be first set up in seven big provinces.
