2010, Badilag Still Focuses on Human Resources Enhancement

Badilag (Religious Courts Body in the Supreme Court) puts its 2010 top priority on enhancing the quality of human resources, particularly judicial officers such as judges, registrars and bailiffs. This is also the program that Badilag focused on in 2009.

“We extend our focus in 2009 to this year, which is enhancing the quality of judicial officers at the Religious Courts while at the same time improving our services so as to fulfill public expectation of justice,” DG of Badilag, Wahyu Widiana, said on Wednesday (6/1).

Based on the most recent data in Badilag, there are 10.390 officers at Religious Courts all over Indonesia, 7.638 out of which are judicial officers and the rest 2.752 are non-judicial officers. The number shows an increase compared to the previous year.

Head Section of Evaluation and Rationalization at Badilag, Saiful Bahri, said Badilag held a number of seminars and workshops in 2009 to improve the quality of judges.

“Most of the programs were carried out in collaboration with some prominent institutions such as National Commission on  Women, Study Center for Women of the State Islamic University Jogjakarta, Legal Aid Institution (LBH) APIK,” he said.

Since 2004, under the one-roof system, Badilag has set up strategic programs every year. 2005 was the year for consolidation while 2006 was for preparing human resources and management. In 2007, Badilag started to develop Information Technology followed by 2008 with the focus on public services. 2009 was focused on enhancing the quality of human resources, especially judicial officers, that is continued to 2010.
