Jakarta | badilag.net/english  (12/1)

The Supreme Court will coordinate with judicial mafia task force to combat judicial mafia practices. The Court will also ask for the task force assistants when facing difficulties in fighting against the mafia within judiciary institutions i.e. the Supreme Court and its lower courts.

“We are always ready to help. Similarly, we will ask for the task force assistance to solve difficulties we will probably face,” Chief Justice, Hon. Harifin A. Tumpa, said after receiving the task force in his office, Jakarta on Monday (11/1/10).

.

Harifin further said the task force would propose inputs to the Court containing necessary steps that needed to be taken to combat judicial mafia.

“We strongly support all steps taken by the task force since the Supreme Court is also doing the same,” he said.

According to Harifin, the judicial mafia task force and the Supreme Court have something in common, which is rejecting any form of intervention to sell law for individual interest.

The Supreme Court has issued a Circular Letter (SEMA) prohibiting judges to receive any gift from justice seekers either at home or in the office.

The Court also continuously responds to all complaints from society. “If the Supreme Court doesn’t respond to the complaints, then the lower courts will handle them,” Harifin said.
