A visit from The Asia Foundation

Directorate General of Religious Courts in the Supreme Court received a visit from a representative of The Asia Foundation (TAF), Rosita Mac Donald, on Thursday (11/3). Rosita, the Program Officer for Governance, Law and Civil Society of TAF, came to Badilag accompanied by Lies Marcoes Natsir, representative of TAF Indonesia.
Rosita is arranging a booklet of success story on Badilag’s successful roles in empowering Religious Courts’ judges on gender sensitivity which has been implemented by Sharia Provincial Court of Aceh.
.She further asked about trainings and curriculum that have been followed by judges. She also asked the effects of gender sensitivity trainings for judges in deciding family cases.
Director General of Badilag Wahyu Widiana said that gender sensitivity trainings that were carried out in collaboration between The Asia Foundation and Badilag had a significant impact on judges when handling gender-related cases. Wahyu also welcomed if TAF would hold similar trainings in the future.
Trainings on domestic violence is deemed important for judges in handling family cases. (vic)
