Chief Justice Inaugurates 56 Court Buildings

Chief Justice also asks court officers to combat case brokerages within the Indonesian courts.

Chief Justice Hon. Harifin A. Tumpa inaugurated the use of 56 new court buildings within 4 jurisdictions throughout Indonesia on Thursday (25/3/10) in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

“I hope the use of these new court buildings can boost court officers' performance,” Harifin said in front of Supreme Court leadership, Governor of West Kalimantan, representatives from Regional parliament and other invitees.

Chief Justice said court officers had to be thankful for the availability of the new court buildings since there were a number of Indonesian courts not owning their own buildings. “There are more than 30 regions that do not yet have their own court buildings, both General and Religious courts,” Harifin said.

Supreme Court, Harifin added, is therefore making every effort to build court building in every regency/municipality to ensure justice seekers in accessing courts.

Harifin also reminded the importance of combating irregularities in the courts. “Don’t let case brokers exist in the courts,” he asserted.

He asked people to report to the Supreme Court if they found any deception by using judges or other court staff. This can be done by using complaint services available on the Supreme Court's website.
