Nowadays the task of high religious court judges is not only to resolve appealed cases but also to guide judges at first instance courts. High judges should, therefore, be more qualified than the judges from first level.
“There are still numerous high judges who are not yet qualified and competent,” Sayed Usman, the newly-appointed Director for the Development of Religious Courts Administration, said on Monday (14/6/2010) when conveying welcome speech on the program of Technical Guidance for Court Administration and Procedural Law in Banjarmasin.
.According to Sayed, there is a decline amongst religious courts officers in the mastery of court administration. “Shared understanding on the standard of court administration is needed so discrepancies on the application of court administration in every region can be avoided,” he said.
Speaking of the same voice, Justice Prof. H. Abdul Manan, as the keynote speaker said that judges would not be able to resolve problems if they were not well-qualified with procedural law. He further hoped judges to constantly improve and refresh their skills by reading as many books as possible, particularly the books related to their tasks as a judge.
The program of Technical Guidance lasted until 17 June 2010 and involved 30 high judges from High Religious Court (PTA) Jakarta, Banten, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Samarinda, Palangkaraya and Banjarmasin.
