Director General of Religious Courts Body, Wahyu Widiana, said ‘Justice for All’ programs in religious courts are not only concerned with fee waiver/prodeo cases, circuit court and legal aid post at court.
“More than that, ‘Justice for All’ relates to all aspects of services,” Wahyu said on Thursday (21/8/2010) in Bandung, West Java when attending the inauguration of 6 high judges and 12 chief judges of religious courts across West Java.
He stated justice is still unreachable by everyone. “Court can’t still be accessed by the poor, people with disability, and the marginalized people,” Wahyu added.
.According to the survey results by PEKKA (a national NGO), Wahyu said, 9 out of 10 poor people from PEKKA do not come to religious courts to resolve their family legal cases due to the lack of money for court fees and transportation cost.
People with disability must also be given similar attention. They are likely to face difficulties to access to religious court when they have family legal cases. Courts and the State still provide minimum facilities for these people.
“As far as I know, very few religious courts which provide ramps (special path for wheelchairs), not to mention toilets and parking lots for disabled people," Wahyu said.
Wahyu hoped that Justice for All programs could be broadly informed to the society through the usage of IT at every religious court.(c)
