at Religious Courts

Religious courts receive positive appreciation for the usage of information technology that has been developed and initiated by Directorate General of Religious Courts Body in the Supreme Court (Badilag) since 2005. The appreciation was conveyed by PSHK (Pusat Studi Hukum dan kebijakan/Center for Indonesian Law and Policy Studies) through its book published on mid-August.
The book titled the Mapping of Information Technology Implementation at the Supreme Court is the results of research conducted by PSHK team. Through this publication, PSHK attempts to give an overall picture of the long journey of development and implementation of IT at the Court since 1984 until now.
Referring to this book, which was compiled by Aria Suyudi and his colleagues, Badilag is the pioneer of website management that is separated (decentralized) from the Supreme Court’s website. At first, the Court’s website was designed to run as a centralized web. But then in 2005, Badilag initiated the decentralization of website management.
.“This (initiative) becomes an unofficial model adopted by the Supreme Court. Later, the model was followed by DG of Badilmiltun (Military and Administrative Courts), DG of Badilum (General Courts), and Balitbangdiklatkumdil (Training Center,” Aria Suyudi writes on page 161.
Decentralization of IT implementation, according to the authors of the book, is the most rational solution. Decentralization can ensure the best level of responsiveness and accelerate the reach of IT implementation.
In addition to being the pioneer, badilag.net is declared as the website which is managed with the highest performance. The website that comes with 3 versions of language (Indonesia, English and Arabic) is valued not only as the one that has the largest number of modules and information, but also practices updated data on an ongoing basis.
“At the unit level, Badilag is the only website that is continuously updated,” the writers say.
Leadership Factor
According to Aria Sujudi, et al, the key success of Badilag’s website management is the active encouragement of Badilag’s leadership and full integration of IT initiatives. The spirit of IT has become an almost integral part of all elements at the DG of Badilag.
In addition, the key to successful implementation of IT in DG of Badilag lies in a strong commitment. at Badilag, according to Aria Sujudi et al, IT is not just an accessory. All activities always involve elements of IT work units, and this has a positive impact on the progress of IT implementation on badilag.net.
