The First Religious Court’s Woman Judge Holding Doctorate Degree

A high judge at Jakarta High Religious Court, Hj. Djazimah Muqoddas, successfully defended her dissertation before 10 examiners at postgraduate school, The State Islamic University ‘Sunan Gunung Djati’ Bandung last Saturday (18/9). Her dissertation titled “Religious Court Woman Judges (Comparative Study on Legal Existence of Woman Judges in the Views of Fuqaha and Positive Laws in Islamic Countries) brought her to pass the doctorate degree with Cum Laude (very satisfying).
In the end of the doctorate examination program, chairman of the session which is also rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Nanat Fatah Nasir, MS, declared Djazimah Muqoddas as the 39th doctor and the 16th doctor on Islamic Law from the SGD State Islamic University. Djazimah is also the first woman judge that holds doctorate program from this university.
A number of Supreme Court’s officials were seen attending this ceremony, such as Justice Rifyal Ka’bah, Justice Habiburrahman, Justice Hamdan, Justice Mukhtar Zamzami, DG of Badilag Wahyu Widiana, Secretary to DG of Badilag Farid Ismail, Chief Judge of PTA Jakarta Khalilurrahman and others.
