Religious Court Judges Must be tough and able to Solve Sharia Economy Disputes

After conducting long discussion with The Sudan Embassy and The Supreme Court of Sudan, the arrangement on Islamic Economy training was finally approved. The Directorate General of Religious Body delegated 7 judges and judge candidates to participate in the program of Islamic economy training in Sudan from 5-20 October 2010. Sudan Government vouches accommodation and living allowance for all participants.
Those seven chosen judges as well as judge candidates are H. Nasich Salam, Lc., LLM. (Religious Court of Yogyakarta), H. Abdul Halim Muhammad Sholeh, Lc., M.Ec. (Religious Court of North Jakarta), H. Armansyah, Lc. (Religious Court of Rengat), Mahrus, Lc. (Religious Court of Sanggau), Mohammad Adam, S.HI (Religious Court of Bitung), H. Abdul Majid, S.HI, M.H (Religious Court of Giri Menang), dan Ahmad Zaenal Fanani, S.HI., M.Si (Religious Court of Martapura).
Deputy Chief Justice, Drs. H. Andi Syamsu Alam, SH., MH., during the briefing in front of the delegations in Cemara Hotel Jakarta (1/10) asserted that the priority of the DG recently is improving human resources. He also stressed that one of religious court jurisdiction is sharia economy dispute. The judges must be able to examine and administer justice in this area with the reliable judgment.
.Therefore, the Deputy Chief Justice really expects the participants to utilize this opportunity by learning, investigating and analyzing the material as well as the procedural law regarding sharia economy implemented in Sudan. As a matter of fact, Sudan nowadays has become worldly reference in terms of sharia economy practices.
“You are mujahid and pioneers in sharia economy. Make a note and underline what sharia economy means actually, and later on you must show to the world that Religious Courts are really capable resolving any cases including sharia economy disputes,” added the Deputy Chief Justice.
Hearing with Sudan Ambassador
Along with badilag team, the delegation met with Sudan Ambassador in his residential place as preceding visit before the delegation formally departure to the country of Khartoum, Sudan.
“We warmly welcome the delegation of Supreme Court of Indonesia to participate in sharia economy training program in Sudan. We have set a tight agenda for all participants hoping that you will really take a benefit. We are proud to serve you,” said the Ambassador Representative.
Finally, the Ambassador representative expressed his gladness due to this joint program. “Sudan and Indonesia have a long tight relationship since the independence. Indonesia was the first who acknowledged our independence. We sincerely hope this relationship will run better and better in the future. You are the first delegation to learn sharia economy in our country, but you are absolutely not the last,” added the Ambassador Representative closing his speech. (shofa)
