Deputy Chief Justice for the Religious Courts, the Hon. Andi Syamsu Alam, said that all elements from the judiciary and local government should support the implementation of legal aid post at the religious courts.
“Legal Aid Post is established to assist poor people to have wider access to justice,” Andi Syamsu Alam said when officially launching the legal aid post at Manado Religious Court (13/4/11). .Full support from local government is needed in helping poor people to access the court. Deputy Chief Justice cited an example. Poor people who want to use prodeo facility from a religious court need to obtain a statement letter of poverty which is released by chief of village. If poor people find difficulties in obtaining such letter from the government, then they will not be granted prodeo facility from the court.
The Mayor of Manado also attended the launch ceremony at the Manado Religious Court. Deputy Chief Justice conveyed his gratitude to the Mayor for the cooperation in supporting the legal aid post in Manado. ©
