Chief Justice Inaugurated Sulistyo

Chief Justice, Harifin A Tumpa inaugurated Sulistyo as the new Director General of the Administrative and Military Court, Thursday (23/6/2011).

The inauguration held at Kusuman Atmadja room was attended by Vice Chief Justice for Judicial Affairs, Vice Chief Justice for Non Judicial Affairs, Deputy Chief Justices, echelons I, II and all guests.

Sulistyo who was born in Bantul in August 15, 1955 substituted Sonson Basar who retired this year. Before it, Sulistyo was a judge at the High Administrative Court of Jakarta.

In his speech, the Chief Justice urged the new director general to perform the development and the supervision of court apparatus especially judges.

 

“And I recommend that the new director monitor apparatus and judges by visiting the courts directly”, Harifin A Tumpa said. He added that the courts absolutely faced a serious challenge related to public trust. Moreover, it became worse when Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested a judge for accepting bribe.

Besides, the Chief Justice asked all apparatus and judges to keep their professionalism in providing excellent services to public.

Harifin A Tumpa also emphasized on the importance of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). According to him, its implementation should be regularly monitored.

In other occasion, the Director General of the Religious Courts, Wahyu Widiana said that he agreed with the suggestion of the Chief Justice in his speech. “All this time, we often visit the religious courts directly. We secretly come to the Religious Courts in order they do not realize that they are monitored”, He said.

“We do not want to seek faults of apparatus and judges but we just want to know the real condition in the religious courts”, Wahyu said.
