Badilag and Family Court Held Information Desk Workshop

For three days, December 12 to 14, 2011, Directorate General of Badilag in collaboration with the Family Court of Australia, facilitated by Australia Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ) held a workshop on Information Desk in Jakarta.

30 participants attended this event. They were representatives of MSY Aceh and High Religious Courts throughout Indonesia.

Monday (12/12/2011) morning, the event was opened by Director General of Badilag Wahyu Widiana. On behalf of the Supreme Court leaders, Director General of Badilag thanked Ausaid, AIPJ and Family Court.

The workshop, according to the Director General, will not be possible without the good cooperation with the Australian side. The workshop also demonstrated the existence of continuity of the cooperation, starting six years ago when Directorate General of Badilag started learning to implement information technology to modernize the religious courts. .

Director General of Badilag also reaffirmed the importance of information services in the judiciary. According to him, information services is one of the most desicive factors in the success of public services.

"So, what we are doing today is in order to provide information services which is an important part of public service, and which in the end for realising the vision and mission of the Supreme Court," He said.

The representative of Family Court, Leisha Lister, gave a brief introduction before the workshop was opened. She said that the religious courts have experienced tremendous growth.

"We learned a lot from your court to take it to my country," She said.

Leisha added, this workshop is a great learning opportunity for the participants and her self. Therefore, she welcomed this cooperation.

Except getting training materials on information desk, the AIPJ gave the opportunity to the Supreme Court to deliver the regulation on information disclosure at the courts and their implementations. The Supreme Juctice The Hon. Suhadi, SH., MH explained on the information disclosure at the Supreme Court and it four lower courts, mainly related to the Decree of the Supreme Court No. 1-144/2011.

The DG of Badilag then followed by explaining the Decree of DG of Badilag No. 017/2011 on Information Desk Sevices in the Religious Court Circumstances. Some findings obtained from the assessment of public services and information desk conducted by Badilag recently were also presented.

Another interesting session during the workshop was the film presentation on how information desk and public services operates in Tulungagung and Cianjur Religious Court.
