The Innovations of Badilag.net in 2011

Jakarta| badilag.net

Friday morning, December 23rd, 2011, the people were shocked by the eccentric action of Dahlan Iskan. Minister for State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) was wandering on the train from Manggarai Station to Bogor Station. From Bogor Station, the former CEO of Jawa Post then rode motorcycle taxi to the Bogor Palace to attend the cabinet meeting.

Seeing this, the media buzzed to report it.  The response of the community was positive at large. "Mr. Dahlan is an extraordinary minister. If all the officers would come down like him, they could feel the distress of the people well, "Yuli, a Jakarta resident, said as quoted by tempo.co.

Two months before the shocking news, Wahyu Widiana, the Director General of Religious Court have shared about his habit to go working by train and motorcycle taxi. The story he wrote in "Mr. Director General’s Corner" on Monday (24/10/2011).

. "The writing style of Mr. Director General is crisp. Exactly the same as the article written in Jawa Post by Dahlan Iskan." A reader named Nurman commented. Now it has been proven, not just the writing style, in terms of riding train and motorcycle taxi, both of them have similarities.

"Mr. Director General’s Corner" which can be found in Bahasa Indonesia version is one of the innovations of badilag.net which was launched in 2011.This menu was made to accommodate the writings of Mr. Wahyu which contain of the other side of his daily life as the number one official in Badilag. We could say, the writings that he would like to share is the "untold story", namely the stories that had not much to know except by himself and certain people.

During 2011, Mr. Wahyu has written 14 articles, and one article contained the comment on the comments. Of the 14 articles, the most widely read was the article entitled “Ice Cream, Baso and Information Technology”, which was read 3.146 times. While the most commented article was the one entitled “Going to the office by train and motorcycle taxi”. This article got 104 comments.

Reader’s Voice

Based on the advices from many readers, we also made the menu "Reader’s Voice" as a complement to the menu "Mr. Director General Corner".

During 2011, 14 articles have been published in this menu. Asep Nursobah,  a judge works at Supreme Court registrary, contributed the most, namely four serial articles "1001 Nights in Badilag".

The most clicked article was the one written by Masrinedi from Painan Religious Court entitled "Badilag.net, Breakfast and Dinner Menu". The article was read 2.183 times.

While the most widely commented one was the article entitled "1001 Nights in Badilag".The article got 35 comments.

Articles Were Displayed in Menu Bar

So far, the reader of badilag.net articles was quite little. This is because the articles were “hidden” in the small bar. Then we got an idea to display them at the front page. So, since December 2011, we displayed a list of the latest articles at the front page. Occasionally, we also put an article in "Badilag Focus Menu".

Evidently, having put in a more attractive place, the number of readers of the article in badilag.net increased more and more.

During 2011, we published 141 articles. This amount increased almost 100 percents than 2010 that only published 79 articles.

Information about Promotion and Transfer

For the first time since the website was established, in August 2011 we published the results of the meeting of the Transfer and Promotion Team. The publication was based on the official policy of religious court officials.

At the left side of this website (Bahasa Indonesia version),  there is a banner "Hasil TPM Tenaga Teknis Peradilan Agama (The results of TPM for Judicial Staff of Religious Court)". When you click it now, then you will find three files there. The three files were flooded by readers. The result of TPM Meeting that published on August 23rd was clicked 35,317 times.

Creating A Facebook Account

In 2011 we also created the account “Editor Badilag” on Facebook. This account was created for facilitating the communication and interaction with the religious court apparatus through social media networking. Currently, Editor Badilag account has more than 5000 friends.

Typically, the wall displays the links that lead to badilag.net. As such, it acts as a sales account to promote the badilag.net contents.

With this account, then we created “Badilag.net Readers Forum”. The forum members are currently about 1400 members. Beside the religious court apparatus, there are also members from other judicature, NGO activists, academics and journalists.

Various things about the religious court were discussed in this forum. The news in badilag.net are also disseminated here. Thus, its presence is able to increase the quality of communication as well as to enrich the information.

Badilag.net Mobile Version

In 2011 we also started developing a mobile version badilag.net. The content and appearance of badilag.net in PC version and mobile version will be very different. Badilag.net in mobile version is designed to save the pulse, easily accessible, and the main menus can still be accessed.

We are currently completing these innovations. We are still formulating what menu should be displayed. We are also discussing the appropriate design. Indeed, we really hope to get advice from the loyal readers badilag.net.
