“Badilag is asked by Planning Bureau of the Supreme Court to prepare some religious courts as pilot courts in Indonesia,” head sub division of program planning of Badilag, Sutarno said in a meeting, Monday (2/4/2012).
Wahyu Widiana, the Director General of the Religious Courts agreed with the idea. “It’s good that we would have some religious courts as model for others,” he said.
To support the idea, Badilag will create a guidance and standard. The pilot courts have to meet some criteria including case administration, general administration, human resources management, public service and room layout.
Hitherto, Badilag has not taken steps to choose the religious courts. But, it plans to prepare around ten religious courts as model. T . he number will represent courts from five big islands in Indonesia.Wahyu Widiana said that layout of courts would be very important. According to him, courts should have sterile area which prohibits illegal and improper relationship between courts’ apparatus and justice seekers.
New and beautiful building is not merely a criterion for a model court. If a court has a sterile area and good facility for public service, it can be chosen as a model court.
“I saw there are some religious courts with nice building but they do not have special entrance provided to justice seekers. Court apparatus join the entrance with justice seekers. Of course, they are not good courts, “ he said.
