DG of Badilag: Social Sensitivity is Necessary in Handling Family Matters

The DG of Badilag, Wahyu Widiana launched the workshop on Family Rights before entirety appeal judges under High Religious Courts (HRC) all over Java island except Semarang HRC in Jogjakarta by Tuesday night (19/6/2012).
The workshop was held by the cooperation of Women Studies Centre of Islamic State University, The Asia Foundation (TAF) and Badilag itself while the keynote speakers had scheduled were some academia, PPA Unit of Regional Police Department of Yogyakarta and some Women NGO.
“This workshop aimed to improve the commitmnet and individual sensitivity on family rights for judges in accomplishing divorce cases”, Susilaningsih said.
According to her, this kind of waorkshop has been done for several times involving 800 judges in ten provinces due to similarity perception of family rights.
. The DG of Badilag on that occasion conveyed that a judge should mastering not only the procedural law but also the living law as well. That was also why on behalf of Badilag, Wahyu Widiana were truly supported what was done by PSW UIN Sunan Kalijaga in holding this kind of workshop that beneficial to judges in improving their perspective yet impartial in making their decisions.Further the DG also said that this exchange of experience might improve the social sensitivity of the judges and in time would make their decisions much more qualified so judges best take part in this kind of workshop, anytime, anywhere.
The Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Musa Asy'arie aside appreciated the workshop for this might relate the scholars and legal practitioners in formulating best legal protection on family-rights.
Musa noted that the increasing of divorce cases would more or less effected women and children, and he also noted that religious courts has been facing big challenge of IT development which has broad social effect, so judges should be much more aware and perspectful of social phenomenon.
The DG of Badilag finally stated that there was commitment similarity between religious courts and PSW of UIN in service prioritizing clients satisfaction. He added “legal justice should walk together with moral justice and social justice so that courts would get full public trust.
The workshop has been scheduled until Friday (22/06/12) and there would be some lessons from keynote speakers, discussion and case examination as well.
