For the first time since his installment as the Chief Justices on March 1st, 2012, Your Honorable DR. H. M. Hatta Ali, SH., MH talked directly in front of all the Chiefs of High Religious Courts.
It occured when Your Honorable Hatta Ali officially openned and delivered a speech in the coordinating meeting held by Badilag, on Monday (09/17/2012), in Jakarta. The coordinating meeting which was held in terms of the celebration of 130 years of the Religious Court was also attended by the Deputy Chief Justice of Religious Court Affairs, Director General of Badilag, the Badilag officials of Echelon II, and all the Registrars/Secretaries of High Religious Courts.
Among the points of his speech, the chamber system and opportunities of the Religious Court Judges to be the Supreme Justices were also delivered by the Chief Justice.
.
“For today, it is still difficult.” He said. The Chief Justice explained that the Supreme Court has applied chamber system based on the Decree of the Chief Justice No. 142/2011. Based on the Decree, the Supreme Court is divided into five chambers, namely criminal, civil, religious, administrative and military chambers.
Either to enhance or to reduce the number of justices in every chamber depends on the percentage of cases received by the Supreme Court.
“In two or three times of the selection, there will not be any justices from the Religious Court circle, since the numbers are relatively assumed enough. The retirement of justice will be replaced by the others.” He explained.
Apart from the percentage of cases, being a supreme justice now is rather difficult for the career judges. They have to compete with other non-career candidates at Judicial Commission and the House.
The Judges Revenue
In this rare occasion, the Chief Justice also talked about the income of court apparatus, especially the judges. “Alhamdulillah, our struggle has come to the clear point.” He said.
The amount salary and allowance received by judges is ascertained to increase in 2013. In his presidential speech in front of the House on August 16th, 2012 the President has declared to increase the judges revenue to a better degree suits their duty and responsibility.
The judges whom are placed at remote areas will receive allowance of scarcity. Before such allowance is only given to whom placed at Papua.
Along with the revenue enhancement, the Chief Justice asked the Chiefs of High Religious Court to intensify the supervision.
There are still judges who perform something contradictory to the Code of Conduct and behave above the law.
Towards such kind of judges, the Chief Justice asked to give them a strict action.
