Supreme Court and Judicial Commission Signed Four Joint Rules
Dr. H. M. Hatta Ali, SH.,MH, chief justice of Supreme Court and Prof.Dr.H.Eman Suparman, SH.,MH, chairman of Judicial Commission signed Four Joint Rules, Thursday (27/9/2012). The rules involve 1). guidance on strengthening code of conduct of judges, 2). procedure of joint investigation, 3). procedure of works, decision making by panel of honorary judges and 4). judge selection.
The signing took place at Wiryono Room, at Supreme Court building. It was attended by leaderships of Supreme Court, leaderships of Judicial Commission, liaison officers and assistance team.
According to Hatta Ali, the signing has been planned long time ago which is facilitated by assistance team from both institutions.
. Hatta Ali said that by the joint rules there will be a harmony and understanding regarding other regulations between these institutions.Besides, the signing shows that both institutions have good commitment in maintaining dignity of judges.
“I wish that by this signing, mass media and people will not regard the relationship between Supreme Court and Judicial Commission like Tom and Jerry relationship,” he said.
According to Asep Rahmat Fajar, the spokesman of Judicial Commission said that there were some different interpretations between two institutions on judge recruitment and judge’s code of conduct. Therefore, both institutions need to have same understanding through the joint rules.
