Good News from Ibnu Saud University

Vice Chancellor of Islamic University of Ibnu Saud, Dr. Muhammad Said Al Alam visited Badilag, Tuesday, 16/12/2014.

Come along with the Dean of Ushuluddin Faculty, Director of Foreign Education, and Rector of Islamic and Arabic Science Institute (LIPIA) Jakarta, the Vice Chancellor was welcomed by the Acting DG of Badilag, Purwosusilo and his range.

During the meeting, Dr. Muhammad Said asserted that the University will facilitate the Judges from Religious Court to participate in Islamic Economy training in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. There have been 80 judges who will soon participate in the training in two terms. And then, there will be around 80 more to follow.

Moreover, the University with pleasure will open the opportunity for Religious Court judges to get scholarship for postgraduate program. This program could possibly be conducted at LIPIA Jakarta as LIPIA is the branch of the University of Ibnu Saud.

“We are in readiness to serve students with procedural law, English, and other materials which support the development of Indonesian religious judiciary,” said the Vice Chancellor.

In other hand, Purwosusilo thanked for the commitment from Ibnu Saud University to intensify the cooperation with Religious Court in upgrading the quality of judges. He revealed that Religious Court consists of 359 units and 29 courts of appeal, while the number of total judges is 3500 covering 500.000 cases a year.

Badilag, as Purwo expressed, concerned to generate the qualified judges in the field of Islamic economy, since it has been fairly new for Religious Court competency.

“We sincerely hope this cooperation will continually run,” said Purwosusilo.

Through this meeting, Badilag and Ibnu Saud University agreed to formulate kind of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which in the future would engender mutual benefits for both sides. [SQ]
