.

Vice Chief Justice in his welcome speech expected that this training could be beneficial for preparing female heads of courts in possessing court management and technical skills. He mentioned that there were 1690 female judges all over Indonesia, 120 of whom were heads of courts; 110 heads of courts at first instance and 10 heads of courts of Appeal level. Meanwhile, there were 5 female justices in the Supreme Court.

“The former Vice Chief Justice for Judicial Affairs was in fact headed by a female, Ibu Marianna Sutadi,” Abdul Kadir Mappong said.

The training with the theme Leadership and Change Management is a collaboration between Indonesian Supreme Court and AusAid facilitated by Indonesia-Australia legal Development Facility (IA-LDF). According to the Head of Center for Management and Leadership Training, H. Djajusman, this LDF-funded training is followed by 26 participants consisting of 12 female heads of State District Courts, 12 female heads of Religious Courts, I female head of State Administrative Court and 1 from Military Court.

Djajusman said a professional in Leadership and Change Management, Anne Marie Troutman, would guide all participants during the training besides some various papers that would be given by Prof. Paulus E. Lotulung, SH, Dr. Artidjo Alkostrar and other resource persons.

Planting trees has apparently become a common practice in every ceremony held in Megamendung, just like what Chief Justice Diana Bryant did. After the opening ceremony, she planted a tree in the area of the Center for Training and Education. She looked so happy since her presence in Indonesia was always perpetuated by planting trees by her own hand. (cho)
