MAIN TASKS AND FUNCTIONS
OF DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF RELIGIOUS COURTS BODY
Introduction
The organization of the Supreme Court, based on article 4 (1) Law No. 5/2004 on Changes to Law No. 14/1985 on the Supreme Court, comprises Chief Board, Justices, a Registrar and a Secretary.
The Secretary of the Supreme Court acts as the head of secretariat administration (article 25 point 1). Several directorate generals officiated by director generals and boards officiated by heads of boards are formed under the Secretary of the Supreme Court (article 25 point 3). While, regulations on organizational structure, tasks, responsibilities, and performance are determined by a presidential decree (article 25 point 6).
The aforementioned presidential decree is implemented in Presidential Regulation No. 13/2005 dated January 31, 2005 on the Secretariat of the Supreme Court. Referring to the regulation, the Secretariat of the Supreme Court is to assist the Supreme Court Chief Justice in coordinating and fostering technical, administrative, organizational and financial supports to all elements within the Supreme Court and all courts.
The Secretariat of the Supreme Court consists of:

The Secretariat of the Supreme Court consists of:
- Directorate General of General Courts Body
- Directorate General of Religious Courts Body
- Directorate General of Military and State Administrative Courts Body
- Board of Supervision
- Board of Research, Development, Education, and Training on Laws and Judiciary.
- Board of Administration Affairs.
Main Tasks and Functions of Directorate General of Religious Courts Body
The Directorate General of Religious Courts Body has the tasks to assist the Secretary of the Supreme Court in formulating and executing policies and technical standardization in the fields of fostering judicial staff, court administration, and religious court case management within the Supreme Court and within all religious courts.
The Directorate General in implementing its tasks holds functions as follows:
The main tasks and functions of the Directorate General of Religious Courts Body as stipulated by Presidential Decree No. 13/1005 are then implemented by the Secretary of the Supreme Court’s Decree No. MA/SEK/07/SK/III/2006 on Organization and Performance Management of the Secretariat of the Supreme Court of Indonesia.
The Secretary’s Decree stipulates that Directorate General of Religious Courts Body comprises:
The Directorate General of Religious Courts Body has the tasks to assist the Secretary of the Supreme Court in formulating and executing policies and technical standardization in the fields of fostering judicial staff, court administration, and religious court case management within the Supreme Court and within all religious courts.
The Directorate General in implementing its tasks holds functions as follows:
- preparing policy formulation on fostering judicial staff, court administration, religious court case management within the Supreme Court and all religious courts.
- executing policies on fostering judicial staff, court administration and religious court case management within the Supreme Court and all religious courts in accordance with applying regulations.
- formulating standardizations, norms, criteria and procedures on fostering judicial staff, court administration, religious court case management within the Supreme Court and all religious courts.
- providing technical guidance and evaluation.
- executing administration of the Directorate General of Religious Courts Body (article 10 Presidential Decree No. 13/2005)
The main tasks and functions of the Directorate General of Religious Courts Body as stipulated by Presidential Decree No. 13/1005 are then implemented by the Secretary of the Supreme Court’s Decree No. MA/SEK/07/SK/III/2006 on Organization and Performance Management of the Secretariat of the Supreme Court of Indonesia.
The Secretary’s Decree stipulates that Directorate General of Religious Courts Body comprises:
- Secretariat of the Directorate General of Religious Courts Body;
- Directorate of the Development of Religious Courts Judicial Staff.
- Directorate of Development of Religious Courts Administration;
- Directorate of Religious Civil Case Management and Regulation;
The Secretariat of Directorate General of Religious Courts Body
The Secretariat of Directorate General of Religious Courts Body has the task to provide administrative and technical supports to all elements within the Directorate General of Religious Judicature Body.
In executing the above task, the Secretariat of Directorate General of Religious Courts Body holds functions as follows:
- execution of coordinating formulation on strategic plans, work programs, budgeting, treasury, accounting and reporting;
- execution of personnel affairs;
- execution of managing organization and performance, occupational evaluation and performance development;
- execution of documentation affairs and information system management.
- execution of internal affairs and logistics.
The Secretariat of Directorate General of Religious Courts Body consists of:
- Division of Planning and Finance
- Division of Personnel affairs
- Division of Organization and Management
- Division of General affairs
- Group of Functional Occupations.
Directorate of the Development of Religious Court Judicial Staff
The Directorate of the Development of Religious Court Judicial Staff has the tasks to prepare formulation drafts and policy execution, standard, criteria and procedure formulation, as well as provide technical guidance and evaluation in the field of fostering judicial staff of religious courts.
The Directorate of Development of Religious Court Judicial Staff in implementing its tasks hold functions as follows:
- execution of formulating policies, standards, norms, criteria and procedures and providing technical guidance as well as preparing proposal for property stock, and promotion and transfer for judges;
- execution of formulating policies, standards, norms, criteria and procedures and providing technical guidance as well as preparing property stock and promotion and transfer for registrars, junior registrars, substitute registrars and bailiffs.
- execution of formulating policies, standards, norms, criteria and procedures and providing technical guidance as well as proposals for career development of judges, registrars, junior registrars, substitute registrars and bailiffs.
- execution of management of data, archive, documentation, evaluation and reporting on fostering judicial staff.
- execution of administrative affairs.
- Sub-directorate of judge transfer

Directorate of the Development of Religious Courts Administration
The Directorate of the Development Religious Courts Administration has the tasks to prepare formulation drafts and policy execution, standard, criteria and procedure formulation, as well as provide technical guidance and evaluation in the field of fostering religious court administration.
The Directorate of the Development Religious Courts Administration in implementing its tasks, holds functions as follows:
- execution of formulating policies, standards, norms, criteria and procedures and providing technical guidance as well as execution of court performance and management.
- execution of formulating policies, standards, norms, criteria and procedures and providing technical and court administration guidance as well as monitoring and evaluation.
- execution of creating case statistics and documentations on population and geographical condition of a jurisdiction.
- execution of administrative affairs.
The Directorate of the Development of Religious Courts Administration consists of;
- Sub-directorate of Management
- Sub-directorate of Guidance and Monitoring
- Sub-directorate of Statistics and Documentation
- Sub-division of Administration
- Group of Functional Occupations.
Directorate of Religious Civil Case Management and Regulation
The Directorate of Religious Civil Case Management and Regulation has the tasks to prepare formulation drafts and policy execution in the management of religious court cases and shari’a.
The Directorate for Religious Civil Case Management and Regulation in implementing its tasks holds functions as follows:
execution of formulating policies, standards, norms, criteria and procedures and providing technical guidance and evaluation as well as fostering analyses on the completeness of cassation case dossiers.
- execution of formulating policies, standards, norms, criteria and procedures and providing technical guidance and evaluation as well as fostering analyses on the completeness of request civil case dossiers.
- execution of formulating policies, standards, norms, criteria and procedures and providing technical guidance and evaluation as well as fostering shari’a matters.
- execution of administrative affairs.
The Directorate of Religious Civil Case Management and Regulation consists of:
- Sub-directorate of Religious Courts Cassation Cases.
- Sub-directorate of Religious Courts Request Civil Cases.
- Sub-directorate of Shari’a.
- Sub-division of Administration
- Group of Functional Occupations.
