In his popular article, Sebastiaan Pompe (Program Manager of National Legal Reform Program) which was published by the thejakartapost.com indicated that the Indonesian Supreme Court had succeeded in publishing verdicts.

He said that the published verdicts are more than all verdicts published by the Supreme Court of the US, the Netherlands and Australia put together over past ten years. He also stated that it was more than decisions published by the US Supreme Court over the past hundred years.

It is an amazing fact, isn’t it?

When Sebastiaan Pompe wrote his article, the number of published verdicts was 22,437. Now, we can see that the number significantly increases with 26,177.

Religious Court of Surabaya Fights against Calo

Avoid pandering

Jakarta l Badilag.net (06/12/2011)
The Religious Court of Surabaya has a special style to prohibit pandering (in Bahasa Indonesia, it is known as calo). At the main gate, it displays a big banner prohibiting it.

The banner says:

“Avoid pandering when you file a case. If you have problems, please contact information desk staff. We are pleased to serve you.”

In a public room, some posters are on display and all of them prohibit pandering. One poster states “No Entering for Pander”.

No Entering for Calo

There are some urgent reasons why that posters and banner are on display. According to the Chief of the Religious Court of Surabaya, Cholidul Azhar, there were many panders offering their services to clients. They got much money from clients. They asked additional fees from the standard regulated by the court. They usually approached clients during filing cases.

Malang RC Cares About the People with Disabilities

There are facilities for the people with disabilities. And an employee is always ready to help

Jakarta: Badilag.net

Once, a woman in a wheelchair named Mrs. Cucu, in a meeting at Badilag office, expressed her anxiety. "I've come to a religious court, but I found it difficult and uncomfortable."

Mrs. Cucu expressed her experience, that the religious court she visited does not have a pathway for the wheelchair she uses. What really available is just storeyed staircase which is more suitable for the pedestrians. In addition, the position of public service counters in the religious court was also fairly high so that she had to look up constantly and stuck her hand up high to be served. "So, the religious court does not have facilities for the people with disabilities," she said.

If Mrs. Cucu visits Malang RC, of course she will get a very different impression. The religious court has had special facilities for the people with disabilities.
