IPASPI Supports the Appeal Courts as the Front Guard of the Supreme Court

IPASPI (Registrar Association of the Indonesian Courts) holds the National Meeting at Mercure Hotel, Ancol, Sunday (18/09/2011). The main agenda of the Meeting is to elect the new commissioner 2011-2014.

In his short speech, the Chief Justice, Harifin A Tumpa states that registrars play an important role in the courts. Registrars are responsible in carrying an excellent court administration. In addition, services in which courts deliver to litigants will depend on their good performances.

“If people are satisfied with the services delivered, they will definitely trust the Indonesian courts”, he said. .

The Indonesian Chief Justice, Harifin A Tumpa, opens the National Working Meeting, Monday (19/9).

It’s a great Meeting that is attended by around 1739 participants consisting of justices, chiefs of judge from the first level court and from the appeal courts, officials of the echelon I and II. All registrars from all courts are also attending the Meeting.

This Meeting will be held from 19 to 22 of September at the Mercure Hotel, Ancol. It takes a theme “to improve the role of the High Courts as the front guard of the Supreme Court”.

All Papers for the National Working Meeting Have Been Uploaded

All electronic papers which will be discussed in the National Working Meeting are now completely available in its official website. Most of all participants have downloaded and printed them out. It will enable all participants to make a better preparation in for the Meeting.

It is a new “tradition” that did not happen before. In the previous National Working Meeting, all papers for discussions were not provided to the participants except when they were at the venue of the Meeting, not before it.

“With this new tradition, we want to show to public we have already carried out the quick wins of bureaucracy reform”, the chairman of the Organizing Committee, Wahyu Widiana said.

Printed Papers Will not be Provided in the National Working Meeting

Chairman of Organizing Committee of the Supreme Court’s National Working Meeting 2011, Wahyu Widiana asserts that printed papers will not be provided for all participants. According to him, this Meeting will be completely different than previous one. It is astutely designed to be paperless.

The new design of the Meeting was decided and agreed by the Deputy Chief Justice for the Development, Widayatno Sastro Hardjono, SH, MSc.

It has been announced since 19th of July and 26th of August, that the Meeting will be held in September 18-22, 2011.

“The committee just will provide a Guidance Book only for all participants”, Wahyu Widiana said.


He explains that all papers and other documents have been published in the official website of the National Working Meeting since three months ago. Therefore, all participants could download them since now from their own offices.

Due to printed papers will not be available in the Meeting, all participants are suggested to print them out and bring them to the Meeting.

“They could also store all electronic versions of papers in their laptop or iPad”, Wahyu Widiana said.

Albeit the Meeting is an inclusive program of the Supreme Court, all people can take advantages from the website publishing any paper and document related to the Meeting. All electronic versions of paper are accessible by anyone.

In fact, the new trend of the Meeting is aimed to maximize the usage of Information Technology (IT) in performing the courts’ main tasks. It is important to note that IT plays an important role to enhance and accelerate work performance.

“The usage of IT is one of quick wins in the Bureaucracy Reform of the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court is very committed to support it”, he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. H. Supandi, SH, M.Hum, a justice appointed as the Chairman of the Steering Committee stated in many occasions that the significant mark of change is a system change, from hard-copy toward soft-copy.
