Chief Justice, Hon. Harifin A. Tumpa led a meeting with Chief Judges of High Courts and Taxation Courts all over Indonesia on Friday (18/12) here in Jakarta. Two Vice Chief Justices, all Deputy Chief Justices, officials from 1^st and 2^nd echelons were also seen attending the meeting that was aimed to evaluate working programs of High Courts and Taxation Courts during 2009.

Harifin said the Supreme Court had increased the budget for all High Courts in Indonesia in order to conduct supervision and development onto first instance courts. He warned that the budget had to be optimally used.

The State Minister for Administrative Reforms, Evert Ernest Mangindaan, said reforms in the Supreme Court bureaucracy was still ongoing because the supervision has not been evaluated by an independent team. “The evaluation and monitoring results are not yet available,” he told reporters at the vice presidential office yesterday.

Badilag develops ‘online timesheet’ to control performance

Badilag is developing an online supervision program which is called timesheet. This web-based application is aimed to measure staff performance during workdays. Detailed activities of all staff members can be seen and monitored through this program.

“This program can enhance work performance of all staff members. Yet, this is only a tool that its success highly depends on us as the users,” said Endra Jumhana, Head Division of Management and Organization in the Badilag.

“All officials from echelons I, II and some from echelon III have already begun using this program. Through intensive socialization and not in a very long time, all staff are expected to use this time sheet,” Head Division of Personnel Affairs, Siti Zubaidah, said.

The objective of badilag.net Arabic version is for improving the quality of Human Resources in Indonesian Religious Courts in addition to meeting public expectation as expressed by Chief Judges of High Religious Courts when the English version was launched, said Wahyu Widiana, DG of Badilag, on Friday (11/12) in Bandung, West Java.

“A huge number of Religious Courts’ legal sources is in Arabic literatures. Consequently, Religious Courts officers, judges in particular, must possess Arabic skills. Thus, the Arabic version website can be made as a strategic media to improve those skills,” Wahyu Widiana said.
