DG on the Program of Religious Court Reform Awards:
We Often Become “Bonek”
Jakarta| badilag.net (12/10/2011)
Starting this week, Badilag will commence the assessment for the program of “Religious Court Information Desk and Public Service Award” and it will finish at the end of November 2011. Some team will go to the regions to perform their duties.
The assessment criterias and standards for the program were discussed in the conference room of Badilag (10/10). The Director General (DG) of the Religious Courts, Wahyu Widiana invited the assessors to conduct the assessment objectively, carefully, and in accordance with the terms agreed together, even without having special budget.
"In many activities, including in implementing the program of Religious Court Reform Awards, we are behaving like 'Bonek', or 'bondo nekad'. Often we do activities that we do not have a specific budget for them, but they work", Wahyu Widiana said.
“In implementing the programs like award conferrals, we are only required to draft the guidelines, criteria and standards of service, that does not cost, because it can be done in the office during the hours of office work", he explained.
In fact, due to the unavailability of special budget, the DG went on, some programs were combined with other programs having their own budget. The trip to regions for the assessment can be held while conducting other programs, such as technical assistance, monitoring, consulting, and others.
“Up to now, we are still lack of and have limited of fund, but we remains having a commitment and togetherness. These are the factors of our strength and the determinant of the success. Of 'commitment' will appear enthusiasm, sincerity and satisfaction to do things better. While with the 'togetherness' we will be able to gather strength, creativity and our potential, "The Director General said.
On the other side, the Director General explained that “Religious Court (RC) Information Desk and Public Service Award” are the part of “RC Reform Awards”. Meanwhile RC Reform Awards itself, the Director General added, consists of several activities of conferral including 'RC Website Award', 'RC Information Desk & Public Servises Award', 'RC SIADPA Award', and 'RC Legal Aid Award'.
"In the future, the program can be combined, for example with 'RC Simkep Award', 'RC Mediation Award' and maybe others," the Director General added.
The conferral of awards was not only done once or just this year, but ongoing. "For example this year, which has been done is the conferring of 'RC Website Award', in last June. And now we're in the process of assessment for the conferring of 'RC Information Desk & Public Servises Awards ", he insisted.
In fact, Wahyu Widiana added that, even a little bit late, we plan to do assessment for the religious courts’ websites this year, conducted in collaboration between Badilag MA-RI with the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ).
"The main purpose of conferring such awards is to motivate all religious courts in implementing the priority programs of Bureaucracy Reform of which the Supreme Court has focused on", Director General said.
Clearly, 'bonek' referred to the Director General is not arbitrary 'bonek' in a common sense, but 'bonek' means 'commitment' to do good, coupled with the creativity and togetherness to gather potentials, to make changes towards a better state, for personal, organizations and society at large. If so, let's support Mr. Director General!
