MoU for One Roof Hearing Signed

The Directorate General of the Religious Courts and the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance the Ministry of Religious Affairs agreed to conduct collaboration. Both director generals of these institutions, Purwosusilo and Abdul Djamil signed a MoU, Sunday night (9/6/2013).
The MoU was signed during a coordination meeting at Mercure Hotel, Ancol. It was attended by around 160 participants from regional office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs throughout Indonesia.
The MoU regulates on administration and marriage quality improvement. Marriage guidance needs to be strengthened in order to enhance quality of marriage. Both institutions will play an important role to embody such purpose.
There are five areas of MoU, namely standard policy and service procedure for marriage, divorce, and reconciliation; one stop service for legalization of marriage which is conducted both in the country and overseas, divorce mediation; validation of marriage data, divorce, and reconciliation and human resource development.
It will be responsibility of both institutions to socialize the MoU to all working units across the country. They will also make planning, implementing and evaluating of the program.
The Director General of the Religious Courts, Purwosusilo said that this MoU is very important. The involvement of both institutions is needed to make the program successful.
After Religious Courts finished a hearing of marriage legalization, a marriage will be recorded by the Religious Affairs Office.
In fact, Population and Civil Registration Agency is needed to take a role in implementing this program. Many children have no certificate of birth. After marriage of their parent is legalized, Population and Civil Registration Agency will be able to issue a birth certificate.
“People will obtain three legal important documents after a marriage is legalized,” Purwosusilo said.
Wahyu Widiana, consultant of AIPJ who is the former director general of the Religious Courts said that some steps must be taken in implementing the MoU. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) must be immediately made.
