Chief Justice Revises SK KMA 144 on Court Information Transparency

Chief Justice, the Hon. Harifin A. Tumpa, issued a new Decision Letter (SK) on Guidelines for Providing Court Information, on January 5, 2011. The new SK, No. 1-144/KMA/SK/I/2011, is the revision of the similar letter No. 144/KMA/SK/VIII/2007 that was made four years ago.

Through this new Decision Letter, Chief Justice asserts that information transparency is the Supreme Court’s commitment to implement bureaucracy reform. .

Ditjen Badilag menetapkan tahun 2011 sebagai tahun justice for all, selain tahun reformasi birokrasi. Dengan program justice for all, Badilag bermaksud memberikan akses yang lebih luas kepada masyarakat kurang mampu untuk mendapat keadilan melalui pengadilan agama. Program itu diimplementasikan dalam wujud perkara prodeo, sidang keliling dan pos bantuan hukum.

Directorate General of Religious Courts set 2011 as the year for ‘Justice for All’ and bureaucracy reform. ‘Justice for All’ programs are aimed at opening broader access for the poor and disadvantaged people to access to religious courts across the country. 2011, Badilag is Focusing on ‘Justice for All’ and Bureaucracy Reform

Badilag (Directorate General for Religious Courts) is focusing its working programs on implementing ‘Justice for All’ and bureaucracy reforms. ‘Justice for All’ programs are aimed to provide greater access to justice for the poor through religious courts across Indonesia. The programs are technically implemented through prodeo facility, circuit court and legal aid post.

The Badilag’s 2011 focus was clearly stated by Director General (DG) of Badilag, Wahyu Widiana, before all Badilag’s officials at a meeting on Wednesday (12/1/2011). Wahyu asks all Badilag’s officials and staff as well as judicial officers of religious courts all over the country to actively take part in succeeding the programs.

As for bureaucracy reforms, Badilag will intensify more on supervision while at the same time continuously publishing results of the supervision through the website, including publication of data on judicial officers subject to disciplinary punishment. (c)

Supreme Court Sets Highest Record on Deciding Cases in 2010

Chief Justice, the Hon. Harifin A. Tumpa, said the Supreme Court has managed to decide 13,891 cases during 2010, which represents the largest number in the last ten years. The Court achieved similar achievement in 2008, only with slightly fewer number, 13.885 cases that year.

Chief Justice made those statements when presiding the Supreme Court Plenary Meeting on Tuesday (11/1/2011) at Wiryono Room, the Court Building, Jakarta. All leaderships of the Court, justices, ad hoc judges, officials from echelon I and II attended this meeting. .

Badilag Appreciates Fast Developments of Religious Courts’ IT

Directorate General of Religious Courts pays serious attention to the progressive actions taken by Religious Courts across Indonesia in improving public services through courts’ websites.

“We relentlessly monitor the developments of the IT usage at every court all over Indonesia, including courts at the great region of Banyumas. In fact, we have just carried out an assessment over websites of Religious Courts here. And the results are quite satisfying,” said DG of Badilag, Wahyu Widiana, at a meeting in Banyumas (7/1/2011).
