From One Roof Hearing to Mediation Center

Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ) held a conference on Partnership of Indonesia-Australia on Wednesday (04/17/2013). The conference held in Sari Pan Pacific, Jakarta discussed various contemporary issues, from one stop hearing to mediation center.

One roof hearing is the legal identity service which involves four agencies at the same time, namely Religious Court, Office of Religious Affairs, District Court and Population and Civil Registration Agency.

Rachael Moore, Counselor Democratic Governance of AusAID assessed that one roof hearing is very important to help people to obtain their legal identity rights, such as birth certificate, marriage and divorce certificate.

Badilag to Hold Legal Discussion and Publish Digital Magazine

Directorate General of Religious Court (Badilag) continues to make innovative steps. In the near future, Badilag will hold a legal discussion and publish  a digital magazine.

“On April 30th, we are going to hold a discussion and will be held continuously. The concept is the one like English Meeting Club (EMC) and Arabic discussion. But what we prioritize is its legal substance. The result of discussion will be published in our digital magazine.” Director General of Badilag, Purwosusilo said in front of the coordinating meeting with the officials of echelon I and II on Friday (04/19/2013).

Badilag plans to hold a legal discussion once in two or three months and will discuss formal and material legal matters.

Chief of Religious Chamber: One Stop Hearing Needed by the Poor

Chief of Religious Chamber of the Supreme Court supports the implementation of one stop hearing. This hearing will enable the poor and marginalized to get wide access to justice.

“It is our strong commitment to serve the poor,” Andi Syamsu Alam said to the team of Australia Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ) in his working room, Monday (15/4/2013).

AIPJ’s team consisting of Wahyu Widiana and Cate Sumner visited Andi Syamsu Alam for an important discussion relating to the possibility to conduct one stop hearing in the Religious Courts.

One stop hearing is an integrated trial which is aimed to provide legal identity for the poor and marginalized. It will enable the poor to get certificate of marriage shortly after the hearing is finished. They do not need to waste their time to follow any other procedure.

Badilag Focuses on One Roof Trial

Purwosusilo, the Director General of the Directorate General of the Religious Courts (Badilag) said that Badilag is now promoting one roof trial. The trial will settle cases of birth certificate. It complies with the Circular Letter of the Supreme Court No. 6 of 2012 on Guidance of Collective Birth Registration over One Year.

“It is one priority program of Badilag for this year,” he said during working meeting held by the High Religious Court of Banjarmasin, Thursday (4/4/2013).

According to Purwosusilo, the trial will involve some institution including Religious Affairs Office, Religious Courts, General Courts and Civil Registration Office.

High Religious Court of Bandung Implements Electronic System for the Procurement

The High Religious Court of Banding establishes a bidding room to support the electronic procurement service. It is the first court which provides special room for the procurement of goods and service in Indonesia.

This court uses a main auditorium for the bidding room. Head of Financial Bureau of the Supreme Court, Sutisna officially announced the utilization of the bidding room on Wednesday (03/04/2013).

Chief of High Religious Court of Banding, Chatib Rasyid hoped that all courts under jurisdiction of High Religious Court of Bandung are able to implement the electronic system for the procurement of goods and service.

The bidding room is equipped with some facilities including waiting room, registration counter, verification counter, helpdesk, meeting room for committee, computers and wireless internet, TV and a desk for the chairman of procurement.
