Innovation Needed for Better Public Services

Director General Badilag, Purwosusilo, encourages apparatus of Indonesia’s religious courts to keep finding creativity and innovations in order to provide best public services to justice seekers.

Speaking to chief judges, judges, registrars and secretaries of religious courts in Balikpapan East Kalimantan on Tuesday (20/8/2013), Purwosusilo argued that innovations were needed to improve the courts services.

He expressed his pride of creativeness made by religious courts throughout Indonesia. “I really appreciate the creativity and innovations of our colleagues all over the country. They (have shown) extraordinary works,” he admitted.

Chief Justice: Public Trust Must be Maintained

Chief Justice of the Indonesian Supreme Court, Dr. H.M. Hatta Ali, SH., MH., asks all judicial officers to regularly access websites of the Supreme Court and its subordinate courts in order to understand policies and reform agenda outlined by the Court’s leadership.

The demand was conveyed in his speech when commemorating the 68th anniversary of the Supreme Court, Monday 19 August 2013.

“Don’t miss out newest information. Always check updated information on the webs because this is important to ensure that the court reform undertaken is inclusive, participatory and sustainable,” Chief Justice said.

Best Court Judgments Will be Contested

Badilag (Directorat General of the Religious Courts at the Supreme Court) plans to contest best court decisions of the religious courts all over Indonesia. This effort is one manifestation of the institution’s seriousness in improving the quality of court judgments.

DG Badilag Purwosusilo just recently said that Badilag is drafting the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the competition. He hoped the draft would be finalized early September next month.

“We’ll discuss and finalize the draft at the coordination meeting between Badilag and leadership of High Religious Courts throughout Indonesia in Jakarta next month,” he added.

Badilag to Hold Legal Discussion Session 2

Badilag will carry out a legal discussion for the second round on Tuesday, 27 August 2013. Prof. Bagir Manan, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, has been scheduled to be the main speaker of the discussion.

Met after halal bi halal gathering at the Supreme Court, Bagir Manan, who is now the Chairman of Indonesian Press Council, expressed his readiness to present his paper on the discussion which will be attended by religious courts’ judges and leaderships all over Indonesia.

“Insya Allah I will come,” Prof. Bagir told the discussion committee, accompanied by SC Leadership Secretary Dr. Hasbi Hasan.

Badilag Held an Exam for Substitute Registrar

The Directorate General of the Religious Courts (Badilag) successfully held an exam for candidate of substitute registrar simultaneously in 13 regions, Tuesday (16/7/2013).

The 13 regions include Sharia Court of Aceh, High Religious Court (HRC) of Medan, HRC of Pekanbaru, HRC of Banten, HRC of Jakarta, HRC of Bandung, HRC of Semarang, HRC of Yogyakarta, HRC of Surabaya, HRC of Samarinda, HRC of Banjarmasin, HRC of Palu, and HRC of Kupang.
