IDR 5.3 Trillion for the Supreme Court

On 2013, the government has allocated IDR 5.3 trillion as a total budget for the Supreme Court and all its sub-judiciary boards. In comparison to the last year budget, the amount has slightly increased.

Deputy Minister of Finance, Ani Ratnawati, in the Annual Meeting of the Supreme Court in Manado, Monday (29/10/2012), said that the budget has been approved by the Government and Parliament last week.

The National Annual Meeting was Officially Opened

Marked by the beating of gong at 12:08 pm of the local time, the Honorable Chief Justice Hatta Ali officially opened a National Annual Meeting 2012 in Peninsula Hotel, Manado, on Monday October 29.

Hopefully, this Annual Meeting can run well and bring benefits to all of us,” said the Chief Justice.

Consisted of the Supreme Court leaders, Supreme Court Justices, echelon I and echelon II, as well as Appeal Court leaders, as many as 313 participants attended the event. In addition, there were also the Governor of North Sulawesi, the Mayor of Bitung, and Communication Forum of North Sulawesi Leaders.

The Chief Justice: The President Eagerly Wants Judge Salary Increase

Speaking in the National Annual Meeting of Indonesian Judge Association (IKAHI), in Manado, October 28, The Chief Justice Hatta Ali asserted that The President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono earnestly wants to increase the salary of judges.

“The President has twice asked the Cabinet Secretary Sudi Silalahi the Regulation Draft on the Status and Right of Judge as State Official,” said Hatta Ali explaining that he directly got the information from Silalahi.

The Draft mentioned judges are entitled to a basic salary, functionary allowance, house facility, means of transportation, health and security benefits, travel expenses, protocol status, retirement fee, and some other rights.

Format of Verdict Will be Discussed in National Working Meeting

One important discussion in National Working Meeting which will be held on October 28 to November 1, 2012 in Manado will be on format of verdicts.

According to Deputy Chief Justice for Religious Court Affairs, the Hon. Andi Syamsu Alam, the main purpose of discussion is to create the same format of verdict for all Religious Courts.

The theme of the National Working Meeting is the Implementation of chamber system in creating legal unity and in enhancing judges’ professionalism.

There will be two kinds of discussion in the National Working Meeting, commission and plenary discussion. Participants will discuss on format of verdict in plenary discussion.

Case Trend in First Level and Cassation Level

The number of cases in first instance, appeal and cassation level shows different characteristic. According to Deputy Chief Justice for Religious Court Affairs, Andi Syamsu Alam, there is a unique trend in total cases received by courts in each year.

“Total cases received by courts of first level tended to increase in 2011, meanwhile the number decreased in cassation level’, he said.

Date collected by the Directorate General of the Religious Courts shows that there is an increase of cases to 120 % in ten years.
