Australian Students Curious on Religious Courts

 

Student of law of Charles Darwin University (Australia) visited RC of Depok on Thursday (3/12/2015). It was a part of short course on transnational organized crime. The student was warmly welcomed by Chief Judge RC of Depok, Dr. H. Andi Akram, SH.,MH. and his range .

Andi explained about Supreme Court , Religious Court shortly and RC development. Related to transnational organized crime, Basically RC has no authority in criminal case only Syariah Court in Aceh province which has an authority to handle criminal case (Jinayah) based on Islamic law.

“ Now RC of Depok is organizing in many aspects such as management , public service facilities and court room” Andi said.

Andi invited all students to walk around in RC building before they left RC.

Good News from Ibnu Saud University

Vice Chancellor of Islamic University of Ibnu Saud, Dr. Muhammad Said Al Alam visited Badilag, Tuesday, 16/12/2014.

Come along with the Dean of Ushuluddin Faculty, Director of Foreign Education, and Rector of Islamic and Arabic Science Institute (LIPIA) Jakarta, the Vice Chancellor was welcomed by the Acting DG of Badilag, Purwosusilo and his range.

During the meeting, Dr. Muhammad Said asserted that the University will facilitate the Judges from Religious Court to participate in Islamic Economy training in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. There have been 80 judges who will soon participate in the training in two terms. And then, there will be around 80 more to follow.

Religious Courts are Expected to Be World Class Courts

At the end of his terms as the supreme court justice, the former chairman of religious court chamber, the Hon. DR. H. Andi Syamsu Alam, SH., MH is obsessed to make religious courts as world class courts.

“We hope we can be in the top ranks of world class courts. Family court in Australia, religious courts in Indonesia and the courts in Middle East.” Andi Syamsu Alam stated in a coordination meeting with chiefs of Religious High Court and Mahkamah Syariah held by Badilag two weeks ago.

DG Badilag and Vice Chief Judge of PTA Surabaya Appointed Justices

The long process of the test ended up on Thursday, 18-09-2014 with a satisfying result. Purwosusilo and Amran Suadi, the participants of justice candidate test, finally won the vote from Commission III to nominate as Supreme Court justices. Each collected 38 votes from a total 50 members of the Commission. According to the rule, the participant has to reach 50% plus one vote which equals 26 votes to be able to propose as a justice in the Supreme Court.

At first, on Monday (1/9), Purwosusilo, DG of Badilag, and Amran Suadi, Vice Chief Judge of PTA Surabaya, participated in writing paper test in the Commission building. Furthermore, on Thursday (11/9) both took part in fit and proper test.

Fit and Proper Test for Justice Candidate

The candidates for Supreme Court justice, Amran Suadi and Purwosusilo had smoothly participated in the fit and proper test before the member of Commission III.

Amran Suadi started the fit and proper test, at 13.15 on Thursday, 11-9-2014. The test led by Vice Chief of the Commission, Al Muzammil Yusuf, politician from Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). The Commission allocated two hours for Amran to run the test.
